Phillip and Margaret Blackburn would like to welcome
you to the Border
Hotel. We are a family
run former coaching inn situated on the village
green in the historic village of Kirk Yetholm, near
Kelso, in the picturesque Scottish Borders.
We have five high quality, newly refurbished,
ensuite bedrooms, a function room, lounge bar,
resident's lounge, public bar and conservatory.
The
Border Hotel is located at the northern end of Britain's
oldest long-distance walk, the Pennine Way, and is a
welcome sight to many weary walkers who have
completed the 268 mile trek. It also provides a welcome break for
those on the 62 mile St. Cuthbert's Way from Melrose
to Lindisfarne. |

Built in 1750 as
a coaching inn
with a totally
thatched roof,
the Border Hotel
was originally
known as the
'Grey Horse'. In
1893 the
thatched roof on
the main
building was
replaced and the
name was changed
to the 'Border
Inn'. In 1898
the gable was
built and the
name changed
again to the
'Border Hotel'.
Over the years
the building has
been
progressively
altered and
upgraded. It now
boasts a
conservatory
leading onto a
beer garden, a
function room
and two small
dining rooms -
as well as all
the modern
facilities the
discerning
traveller has
come to
associate with
quality
accommodation.
The Border Hotel
is now a family
owned and run
establishment.
The proprietors,
Philip and
Margaret
Blackburn and
staff, are
always on hand
to ensure your
visit is
comfortable and
enjoyable. The
hotel offers
excellent
standards of
accommodation
and facilities
whilst set in a
particularly
pretty rural
location amid
unspoilt
surroundings.
Renowned by
walkers as the
northern end of
the 268 mile
Pennine Way,
the hotel also
provides an
ideal base, or
stopping-off
point, for
cyclists,
golfers and
anglers. It is a
particular
favourite for
those engaged in
country sports
or for those who
are just touring
the beautiful
Scottish Borders
in general.
Following the
opening of the
Scottish
National Trail
in 2012, Kirk
Yetholm is the
starting point
for this new 470
mile trek from
the very south
of Scotland to
the very North
at Cape Wrath.
Children are
most welcome. All
major credit and
debit cards are
accepted.
